Sunday, 7/05/2009 10:39:00 PM, A Fruitful Week

It has come to the end of the last week of my school term break. And i think that i have had a fruitful week - spending time with my mum (accompanying her to SGH, shopping with her, meeting cell members and friends, reading a book).

I think there was a balance in time management - spending time at home and meeting people at night, or vice versa. Well, my mum is going back to work tomorrow as well. This is my last hols im gonna have before starting work next year. i'd be graduating end of this year. indeed, time really flies! i really enjoyed the hols ever since poly days - i dont even have to worry about finishing homework and studying for next sem modules. That's what true HOLS really means! haha. I've never regretted going to poly. i had learnt life lessons which JC would never be able to provide.

To cut the long story short, i really miss the days in Jurong. i used to stay there when i was borned all the way to primary days. The wind there is so much cooler, unlike Tampines. All u feel at tampines is heat and more heat. Somehow, i have the strong urge of moving back. haha.. though the possibility is very low. You know something: Jurong is so much bigger than Tamp - Jurong East, Chinese Garden (still Jurong EASt), Lakeside (Jurong West), Boon Lay (further down of Jurong West)! I went visted my primary school child care centre. I found out that my teachers are still there - even before i was PRIMARY ONE!!! That's like 14 years ago! They were very surprised to see me, and couldnt really recognised me cos i really changed alot - physically, facially, and internally (character and conduct)! I must acknowledge that it MUST DEFINITELY be the call of God for the teachers. It's a christian organisation, with a family service centre too.

Another thing to add, exploring science centre really makes one even smarter and more knowledgeable. i used to go there everyday when i was in primary school cos my school is just 5 min walk away from science centre. the last time i've been there was primary 6. i wont say how long is it cos i wont want to reveal my age openly. HAHA! U'd be amazed how your mind would be exposed to the possibility of looking at things from different angles. It'd definitely change your perspectives in life. I dont mind going science centre again. haha. i will upload the pics soon! =)

Gonna sleep early to rest my tired eyes. I have lessons from 3.30-6.30pm everyday - such a disgusting timing right? its like the middle of the day, which somehow would cause you to waste your day unless you have proper time management.

There are times where people may pissed you off
and do things that are really ridiculous and unpleasant,
but will you still love them unconditionally?

A leader doesnt mean that he/she has the right to demand his/her rights from the people around him/her.
A leader should bring others to a higher plane where a clearer perspective can be seen.
Leaders have different styles of leading, some right and some wrong (subject to one's conscience). What is right to one may not be right to another.
But well, at the end of the day, all of us are accountable to God for the things we have done and have not done on Judgment Day.

The day is coming where we need to make a stand and be the different, and the difference is none other than LOVE. Not human nor temporal love, but love that is eternal that is unconditional.

Thursday, 11/20/2008 10:46:00 PM, Let the Difference be LOVE

I have had the right
To stand and fight
But it would have still been wrong
I've had the chance to prove
A hurtful truth
I had to let it go and just move on
'Cause there's a gift called grace
That's captured my life
Though the way of the world is power and pride
I want to be different, Jesus
Just like You
I want to be tender with mercy
Guiding all I do
So when others talk about me
Let it be because I am different
Let the difference be love
Let me have the kind
Of heart that shines
The light and shows you're real
And where hope is dim
And fear sets in
Will you use me Lord to help and heal
I don't want wealth or fame
To define the life I live
Oh let me be known
For what I give
I want to be different, Jesus
Just like You
I want to be tender with mercy
Guiding all I do
So when others talk about me
Let it be because I am different
Let the difference be love
Every day is a chance to serve You
By caring for someone else
I will make the choice to surrender
And not live for myself
I want to be different, Jesus
Just like You
I want to be tender with mercy
Guiding all I do
So when others talk about me
Let it be because I am different
Let the difference be love

Wednesday, 10/01/2008 02:18:00 AM, Iceskating at Kallang Leisure Park

Today was my first time iceskating in the entire history of my life. And the best part was that i have learnt how to skate, and i only fell thrice! Yippee! :)
The cell was there to celebrate Gaby's birthday. Her dad actually paid for our entrance fees and provided us with dinner. Well, it was extremely awesome!
I think skating is about balancing yourself, having the momentum and being garang in being daring to fall. I mean that was how we all learnt to walk - through several falls. Being afraid to fall in the midst of trying to skate quickly, I tried very hard to maintain my balance or grab the nearest railings whenever i was about to fall. I think i was like a humpty dumpty trying to balance himself. Those were the unglam moments of me. HAHA.
I feel satisfied with my accomplishment! I got to learn to skate in like less than an hour? But I’m really considering if i should skate in future when i look at my recent huge injury near my ankle. The injury wasn’t caused by the fall. It was actually due to the pair of skating shoes that i wore. I think i exerted too much strength on my legs that it kept rubbing on the shoes. And I tot it was just a minor blister until I got home. To my horror, quite a big patch of my skin was torn. It's not the kind of normal blister. Cos i would usually burst the blisters. Now, the skin is gone, and what i can see is a big white portion of flesh. And I have similar injuries on both legs. They look really ghastly. It's like years since i had bad injuries on my legs. When i was younger, i was very prone to falls. I would like fall almost every week... Well, I was skinny but clumpsy. Haha.
I just realised that the yellow lotion in my house has just expired. Argh!!! I really wonder how I’m gonna slp tonight cos i usually sleep sideways. Thus, the injury would be rubbing on my bedsheet. Ouch, It really hurts!

Thursday, 11/01/2007 02:29:00 PM, One More Month To Go!!!

The end of this week marks the end of 2 months of internship. 1 more month to go. YAY!! I would be transferring dept real soon, something of more relevance to my course of study. I have 1 more month to gain more experience.

Though what I have been doing is quite mundane, staying in IT dept for 2 months has been good. The work environment is kinda good, unlike other companies with so much politics. Guys just dominate the IT dept. There are only 3 ladies in that dept, and the rest are guys. Somehow, I prefer working with guys instead of ladies. Perhaps it is the bad past experiences I had with female supervisors. Though I am a female myself, I generally find that female supervisors are so picky and so hard to please. They would just find faults in every area. It is not that guys do not want excellence in their work, but they just show more mercy as compared to ladies. Humans make mistakes. Male supervisors would inform you of your error and warn not to repeat them in future. Some female supervisors would jump into conclusions, and scold instead of informing first. They just don’t apply the hot stove rule in discipline, a concept learnt in HR.

In case there are some who would be quick to retaliate and state their views, just to let you know, these are some of my experiences I have encountered and observations that I have concluded. Perhaps, there are nice female supervisors out there whom I have not met?

The guys in the IT dept are so filled with lameness. Coldness of jokes can just float around in the dept. I guess this is one of the best working environment I have encountered. Not because of guys, but that the people here are friendly and do not have politics like other companies.

Working in the IT dept can get quite busy and mundane at the same time. There are some days where there are only a few cases to solve. And the thing is, you don’t need a diploma nor degree to do the work that I am doing. If you are customer oriented and can handle demanding candidates, then this position is quite suitable for you. However, this position has already been taken up. Kelly has hired a contract staff to do the work that I am doing already. Thus, I can change dept real soon. YAY!!

I may be transferred to the marketing or recruitment dept. YAY!!! It’s somewhat different from what I am doing now. I would go crazy if I were to stay on this job for more than 3 months!

Yesterday was one of the “nothing-to-do” days. Not that I do not have anything to do, but just that I have lesser. The new staff has more or less gotten the hang of handling Esolutions already. Thus, I can go with no worries.

These are some of the pictures that I have taken 2 days ago:

I was simply bored, and couldnt do much things in front of my desk. Not very nice if i surf the net or read the newspapers.

Monday, 9/17/2007 11:41:00 PM, Internship

I’m still trying to get used to waking up early in the morning just to go to work. The habit of sleeping early and waking up early have to be cultivated once again. It has been ages since I have woken up so early – 6.30am!!! If only I could study and not do this attachment. But to face up to reality, I have to complete this attachment in order to graduate. Rushing to work has been a routine since last Wednesday, when I first started work. Staying in the office from 8.30am – 5.30pm is really tiring. I really dreaded going to work. But I still have to shine wherever I go. I still have to By the time I get home, I only have a few hours left before I have to get ready to sleep for the next day. Even if I cant sleep, I still have to force myself to so that I wouldn’t go to work with panda eyes the next day. I really wonder how the working people are able to wake up so early and going so late without feeling that tired. Perhaps, they are already used to that routine already. Talking about the work environment? It has been good so far. The people there are kinda friendly. I heard from many during my training that my workplace is very peaceful, unlike the rest of the department. When I first went there on Thursday, it was exactly like what they had mentioned. They seemed to speak in some lingo I do not understand. But after better understanding of my colleagues for a few days, I think they are alright. Today was the first time I saw James in my office. When we talked, the rest of them thought that he is my big bro. Actually, James is alright and not as bad as others might think. Well, to cut the long story short as I am going to bed real soon, the following is a brief account of what happened last week. =)

13 September
I thought the cell had forgotten my birthday. We had dinner at century square. Just when we were waiting for others to come, Eunice appeared. Something was fishy…what was she doing with my cell? Not that I do not welcome her but how did she know that we were there? okay… so she was there to celebrate my birthday too. =) Can u imaging the Serangoon guys coming to Tampines? Thanks guys!!!

12 Sept
Anybody remembers what day is it? MY BIRTHDAY!!! Sadly, it was the first day of my internship. I still had to wake up early at 6.30am to go to work. There was a mini breakfast for the 4 interns who would be joining Kelly till 30 November. After that, we had trainings for the rest of the day. knocked off at 5.30pm!!! couldn’t wait for that moment to come.
I had dinner at Fish and Co with my mum. We had 10% discount since it was my birthday. Managed to get a new pair of shoes as the old one was going to spoil soon and it was giving my feet some problems. I did not manage to get any top as yet.

Tuesday, 8/14/2007 03:06:00 AM, 1 more day

Cant wait to get back to sch!!
have not been out of house for 2 weeks! This is due to the chicken pox. I really have no idea where I got it from. Perhaps someone inconsiderate went out of the house when he/she is still recovering from chicken pox.
It is rather frustrating to have pox a week before the event that I was supposed to execute as a school project. I was a logistics head committee. I have no idea why. Still, with all my hard work and all, I couldn’t be there at the museum on the event. I had made so many trips to the museum weeks and months before the event to prepare just for the one day of execution. But sad to say, I was not there. I had to delegate everything that I was handling to my other team members. I still had to make sure that things get done excellently in the logistics side. There were so many things to undone when I was at home. I had to coordinate with the contractor and stuff like that at home.
However, It’s all over already. Forget about the frustrations. I get to have a break from school projects, assignments, lectures and tutorials. Come to think of it, I don’t really get a break from that. I had to do HR report several times. Our group wanted to recommend gain sharing to the company. But we were hinted by our tutor the day before our submission, 7 Aug that it was better to recommend profit sharing instead. Thus, I had to change the whole report in less than a day!

Above all that, I get to sleep more. Yippee! For all the days of sleepless nights…
Free meals provided. My aunt came to bring food everyday. She brought so much food, even sweets. Those that I can eat, in case I get sick of the food. My grandma even said that she looks after me better than my mum. Haha…Free house cleaning… Haha. =) My grandma and her maid came over to my house. But I couldn’t eat much. It’s rather torturing. Cant eat tidbits, seafood, cucumber, ikan bilis, eggs, chicken, nuts of whatever kind, pineapple, sesame, etc. The list goes on and on…My mum suggested me eating porridge with cai xin everyday! Argh !!! I would look more like a sick patient in the hospital. Plain food everyday. My grandma and her maid went home on Saturday. So all I had on Monday was 2 packets of plain biscuit. There wasn’t any food that I can eat at home.

Now, I have gotten pics of the event! YaY! But too bad I wasn’t there.
Our very own chair and vice chair person. Thanks to their leadership, that the event was a success.
